About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented Certified Medical Coder responsible for reviewing clinical documentation and assigning accurate diagnostic and procedural codes. This role ensures compliance with coding guidelines and supports billing, reporting, and regulatory requirements in an outpatient setting.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • Minimum 2 years of outpatient coding experience (E/M required)
  • Strong knowledge of coding systems and reimbursement methodologies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a hybrid or fast-paced environment
  • CCS (Certified Coding Specialist)
  • CPC (Certified Professional Coder)
  • RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician)
  • CMC (Certified Medical Coder)
  • CCA (Certified Coding Associate)

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Degree in a medical field (preferred)
  • Neurosurgery or Neurology coding experience preferred
  • HCC coding experience preferred (6+ months)
  • Experience with Epic (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and modifier codes for outpatient encounters
  • Review clinical documentation and diagnostic results to ensure accurate data capture
  • Ensure compliance with official coding guidelines, policies, and regulatory standards
  • Communicate with providers to clarify documentation and resolve coding queries
  • Maintain adherence to ethical coding standards
  • Support organizational quality and productivity goals
  • Assist in mentoring and training junior coding staff as needed
  • Participate in ongoing education and professional development
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
