  • Take and record vital signs and medical histories of patients.
  • Prepare patients for examination and assist physicians during procedures.
  • Draw blood and administer medications as directed by the physician.
  • Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.
  • Change dressings on wounds and clean/sterilize instruments.
  • Collect and log laboratory specimens, preparing them for testing.
  • Contact medical facilities to schedule patients for tests or admissions.
  • Greet and log in patients upon arrival at the clinic.
  • Explain treatment procedures, medications, and physician instructions to patients.
  • Help physicians examine and treat patients by handing them instruments or materials.
  • Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure vital signs, weight, and height.
  • Inventory and order medical, lab, or office supplies or equipment.
  • Perform general office duties such as answering phones and completing insurance forms.
  • Conduct routine laboratory tests and sample analyses.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations and keep them clean.
