About The Position

This position is part of the team concept which is devoted to the delivery of primary care in an ambulatory setting with an emphasis on prevention and health maintenance. The Medical Assistant will be required to apply principles of comprehensive, community-based, patient-centered, developmentally appropriate, and culturally and linguistically appropriate care coordination. The Medical Assistant is expected to support the provider in the assessment, examination, treatment, and other management of patients in the clinical setting. Strong customer service, communication, teamwork, and multi-tasking skills are a must. Perform duties and carry out the necessary functions required in accordance with established policies and procedures. All duties performed must reflect Clinical Skill Checklist competency as determined during the orientation and probation periods and updated as recommended by the supervisor.

Requirements

• Certification as a Medical Assistant.
• Associates of Science with AAMA certification preferred.
• Certification in CPR is mandatory.
• Two years or more in a clinic, physician's office or hospital setting preferred.
• Basic knowledge of Medical Terminology is mandatory.
• Proficiency in conversational Spanish is a plus.
• Ability to handle multiple situations effectively.
• Empathy and compassion for all patients and staff.
• Professional and courteous demeanor at all times.
• Intermediate to advanced computer and EMR proficiency.

Nice To Haves

• Experience as a nursing student who has completed at least two nursing clinical rotations.
