About The Position

We are an orthopedic sports medicine physician practice seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Certified Medical Assistant. The role involves a variety of duties that support both patient care and administrative functions within the practice. The ideal candidate will be responsible for patient triage, assisting physicians with procedures, and ensuring that the clinic operates smoothly and efficiently.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program (required).
  • Medical Assistance Certification (required).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (preferred).
  • 1+ years of experience in office, clerical, or medical work; medical assistant, admissions rep, or clinic support (preferred), or customer service.

Nice To Haves

  • Clinical MA certification within 60 days of employment after graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for exam and treatment by taking patient history and vital signs.
  • Assist physicians with minor in-office procedures and physicals.
  • Complete administrative paperwork and manage patient telephone calls, including voicemails and FMLA forms.
  • Provide direct patient care and ensure exam rooms are clean and stocked with adequate medical supplies.
  • Maintain instruments and prepare sterilization as required.
  • Update and file medical records via electronic record keeping.
  • Communicate effectively and demonstrate a caring attitude towards patients and their families.
  • Follow universal precautions, OSHA standards, and HIPAA regulations.
  • Perform phlebotomy, IM injections, remove sutures/staples, and conduct simple dressing changes.
