About The Position

GYN Cancer & Pelvic Surgery is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to perform routine clinical and clerical tasks under the direction of a physician or other health practitioner. The role involves a variety of clinical duties, including taking and recording vital signs, gathering medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, processing prescription refills, and assisting with minor procedures as directed by a physician or health practitioner. The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) acts as a practice ambassador, contributing to the overall patient experience, safety, and privacy. This position is essential in ensuring that patients receive high-quality care in a supportive environment. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the CMA will support practice needs with clerical tasks such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, collecting co-pays, preparing lab requests, and other clerical tasks as assigned. The CMA will also communicate with insurance providers and handle pre-authorizations and certifications as necessary. The role requires preparing examination rooms, arranging instruments and equipment, and ensuring a neat and sanitary environment for patient care. The CMA will be responsible for rooming patients, verifying patient information, confirming the purpose of visits, obtaining and recording vital signs, and updating medical histories. Effective communication with patients and other healthcare providers is crucial, as the CMA will follow the instructions of the overseeing physician or health practitioner. The position may also involve creating and maintaining health record information, filing, and organizing as needed, along with other duties as assigned.
