About The Position

We are a multispecialty Women's Clinic located in downtown Charleston at 135 Cannon Street, busy clinic with over 25 exam rooms running for up to 8 providers at a time. We see obstetrical, high risk obstetrical, gynecological, surgical, procedural, and family planning patients. The Certified Medical Assistant reports to the Outpatient Clinic Manager. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Certified Medical Assistant performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes. Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records or inputs information to patients' medical record. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited medical assisting program
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
  • American Medical Technologist (AMT)
  • American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
  • National Health career Association (NHA)
  • MedCA as a Certified Clinical & Administrative Medical Assistant (MA1)
  • National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).

Nice To Haves

  • one year of patient care experience preferred.
