About The Position

Our Family Medicine Clinic in Altoona, IA, is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our patient-centered healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be a compassionate, detail-oriented professional who provides high-quality clinical and administrative support to ensure the best possible patient experience.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program required.
  • Must hold one of the following active certifications: CCMA (NHA) - Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, National Healthcareer Association
  • CMA (AAMA) - Certified Medical Assistant, American Association of Medical Assistants
  • CMA-NCCT - Certified Medical Assistant, National Center for Competency Testing
  • CMA-NCMA - Certified Medical Assistant, National Certified Medical Assistant
  • NRCMA (NAHP) - Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant, National Association of Health Professionals
  • RMA (AMT) - Registered Medical Assistant, American Medical Technologists
  • RMA (AAH) - Registered Medical Assistant, American Allied Health
  • RMA (ARMA) - Registered Medical Assistant, American Registry of Medical Assistants
  • Current CPR/BLS certification required.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and patient service skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a family medicine or primary care setting preferred.
  • Experience using EPIC a plus!

Responsibilities

  • Assist providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Obtain and record vital signs, medical histories, and patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Administer medications and immunizations as directed by the provider.
  • Prepare exam rooms, sterilize instruments, and maintain clinical supplies.
  • Perform basic laboratory tests and specimen collection.
  • Schedule appointments, manage patient flow, and provide patient education.
  • Ensure compliance with clinic policies, OSHA, HIPAA, and other healthcare regulations.
  • Collaborate with providers, nurses, and administrative staff to deliver coordinated patient care.
