About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting in providing clinical care to patients under the supervision of a professional nurse or licensed medical practitioner, while also supporting clerical and administrative office functions.

  • High School diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • CMA – National Healthcareer Association
  • CMA – National Center for Competency Testing
  • CMA – American Association of Medical Assistants
  • RMA – American Medical Technologists
  • RMA – National Association for Health Professionals
  • Certification from American Medical Certification Association
  • NCMA – National Certification Medical Association

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare exam and treatment rooms, including supplies and instruments.
  • Prepare patients for physician visits and assist during examinations as directed.
  • Record patient vital signs accurately in medical charts.
  • Operate and maintain medical equipment appropriately.
  • Perform diagnostic and screening procedures such as EKG, PFT, audiometry, and vision testing upon completion of competency evaluations.
  • Conduct lab-related procedures including phlebotomy and other required tests after competency validation.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
  • Assist with billing and collection processes as needed.
  • Utilize computer systems for data entry and office operations.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  • Provide patient-centered care tailored to age, culture, language, and other specific needs.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers at an appropriate level of understanding.
  • Support additional duties and projects as assigned.
  • Adhere to organizational standards, policies, and professional conduct expectations.
  • Perform physical tasks including light lifting, pushing, pulling, and prolonged standing.
