About The Position

The Infusion Center Medical Assistant (MA) supports the clinical and operational functions of the Infusion Center by assisting licensed nursing staff and providers with patient care activities, ensuring efficient patient flow, and maintaining a safe, compliant clinical environment. The MA works under the direction of registered nurses and providers in accordance with state regulations and organizational policies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant (CMA or RMA) required
  • Minimum of 1 year of Medical Assistant experience preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical workflows
  • Proficiency with EMR systems
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred
  • Prior experience in oncology, infusion services, or specialty practice preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for appointments, including vital signs, height/weight measurement.
  • Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection
  • Perform EKGs and other basic diagnostic procedures as assigned.
  • Observe patients for signs of distress and promptly report concerns to nursing staff.
  • Reinforce provider and nursing instructions to patients, including post-visit and follow-up guidance.
  • Clean and disinfect patient care areas between visits.
  • Assist with inventory management, ensuring proper stocking of supplies and equipment, tracking, and expiration monitoring of supplies.
  • Accurately document patient interactions, vitals, and procedures in the EMR.
  • Assist with appointment coordination, referrals, and prior authorizations as directed.
  • Provide courteous, compassionate, and professional care to patients and families.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, including exposure control, incident reporting, and emergency procedures.
