SUMMARY We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our on-site Wellness Clinic serving residents in our Independent Living community. This role supports preventive care, chronic disease monitoring, and coordination with providers to help residents maintain independence and optimal health. The CMA will function under the supervision of a licensed provider (physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant) and/or registered nurse, consistent with North Carolina regulations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned): Clinical Duties (Within CMA Scope in North Carolina) Obtain and document vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature, oxygen saturation, weight, height)  Perform point-of-care testing (e.g., blood glucose, urinalysis, COVID/flu testing) in accordance with CLIA-waived guidelines  Administer medications and injections (including vaccines) as delegated and supervised by a licensed provider  Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection as trained and permitted  Assist with routine exams and minor procedures  Conduct EKGs and other basic diagnostic testing as ordered  Perform wound care and dressing changes per provider orders and established protocols  Monitor and report changes in resident condition to supervising clinician  Care Coordination & Resident Support Assist in the scheduling and preparation residents for clinic visits  Coordinate with primary care providers, specialists, home health, and pharmacy services  Assist with referrals, follow-ups, and obtaining medical records  Support wellness initiatives, screenings, and vaccination clinics  Promote preventative care and healthy lifestyle engagement among residents  Administrative Duties Accurately document all care and interactions in the electronic medical record (EMR)  Maintain clinic supplies, inventory, and equipment  Ensure compliance with infection control, OSHA, and HIPAA standards  Participate in quality improvement and regulatory readiness activities  Scope of Practice Statement (North Carolina) The Certified Medical Assistant will perform duties in accordance with: Delegation and supervision requirements of a licensed provider  Training, competency validation, and organizational policy  Applicable state and federal regulations (including CLIA, OSHA, and HIPAA)  The CMA will not perform independent assessments, make medical diagnoses, or initiate treatment plans.

Requirements

  • Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential (AAMA or equivalent recognized certification)
  • Current BLS/CPR certification
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred
  • Minimum [1–2] years of clinical experience preferred (geriatric or outpatient setting a plus)
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Must have a North Carolina Certified Medical Assistant license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with PCC preferred
  • Prior customer service experience preferred.
