About The Position

Join our team as a Certified Medical Assistant. The position serves as clinical and administrative support for the employee health clinician and performs delegated medical assistant tasks under the supervision of the EHWC Site Nurse Practitioner (NP) or the EHMG Practice Administrator. The employee health and well-being center staffing model consists of one full-time Certified Medical Assistant and one full-time Nurse Practitioner. The medical assistant's work assignments consist of 40% administrative (including filing and recordkeeping) and 60% clinical responsibilities, as delegated. Perform front desk receptionist responsibilities to include data entry, assisting customers as they enter Employee Health, filing and retrieving medical charts, and answering phones. Ensure the accuracy of registration, insurance verification, and coding, and charge entry into the electronic health record. Prepare employee for examination by the healthcare provider to include the following: recording vital signs including weight and BMI and preparing a patient (e.g., assisting with placing on a gown or exposing an affected area of the body for examination). Perform blood draws and tests, vaccinations, and clinical procedures under the direction of the supervising clinician. Responds appropriately in clinical emergencies and triage situations. Performs diagnostic and occupational medicine testing. Completes forensic testing collections in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and Workplace Guidelines. Testing may include urine drug screens, blood/breath alcohol testing, oral fluids and hair testing. Prepare reports for the Manager, Program Coordinator, and Medical Director, and Regional NP as requested regarding monthly utilization, co-pay, time in the clinic, and satisfaction summaries, as requested. Ensure lab compliance and with all required quality assurance measures by recording all required data in lab compliance binder including but not limited to: daily temperature log for refrigerators, documentation of all point of care and send out labs performed for each date, performance and documentation of lab controls for all point of care tests. Health education and activities at the direction of the supervising clinician.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of HIPAA
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook and basic Excel)
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program and valid certification
  • CPR certification is required
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification is required (CCMA or NRCMA)
