About The Position

Obtain height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and pulse oximetry per clinic protocol. Phlebotomy including blood draws with ability to obtain age appropriate specimen within ambulatory setting. Assembles equipment and supplies in preparation for various diagnostic or treatment procedures performed by physicians or nurse. Required clinical procedures (e.g., 12-lead EKG; AED; Spirometer; Nebulizer; Audio scope; Podiatry set-up; Orthopedic preparations, Instrument Sterilization Equipment) exhibit proficiency within acute and critical care outpatient setting. Participates in all employee and job specific education and training as required Maintains Patient's Bill of Rights and a bide by principles and laws related to confidentiality. Interact with staff and patients to optimize workflow efficiency. Comply with risk management and safety procedures. Practice standard precautions and assist in infection control. Document electronically all patient communication, interactions, observations, and clinical treatments. Identify potential consequences of failing to operate within the scope of practice of a medical assistant. Follows oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with clinical team, community members, and patients/families served. Serves as managed care liaison between the internal and external Meskwaki Tribal Health Clinic departments and resources. Podiatry set-up; orthopedic preparations and proficiency within acute and critical care outpatient setting. Stock and supply clinic rooms and departments as needed. Completes all job functions in accordance to Meskwaki Tribal Health Clinic policies and procedures. Must abide by the Sac and Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa Employee Handbook Highly motivated team member with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who efficiently performs role with varied levels of direct and indirect supervision. Requirements

  • Certified Medical Assistant must be a graduate from a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited program with diploma.
  • Must have Certified Medical Assistant certification or must obtain within 6 months.
  • BCLS certification at time of hire or within 1 year of employment.
  • Required completion of CLIA-competencies and laboratory equipment proficiency within 12 months of hire.
  • Must submit to and successfully complete background investigation as per P.L. 101-630 408(b) parameters.

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS preferred.
  • Prefer understanding of Ambulatory Clinic standard operating procedures.
  • Preferred knowledge of and desire to meet CMS meaningful use recommendations.
  • Prefer Quality Improvement (QI)/Quality Assurance (QA) or Improving Patient Care (IPC) knowledge with Medical Records preparation/maintenance experience
  • Preferred Limited Radiography certification
