Requirements

  • Completion of and certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program
  • Current CPR certification or ability to obtain certification within four months of hire
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Excellent computer, telephone, and verbal/written communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills with exceptional organization and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated, dependable team player who is friendly, professional, and able to multitask efficiently while remaining calm and productive

Nice To Haves

  • Previous medical experience preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Verify patient information by interviewing patients, documenting medical history, confirming the purpose of the visit, and reconciling medication lists.
  • Prepare patients for examination by performing preliminary physical assessments and tests.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality by accurately completing, securing, and safeguarding medical records, including diagnostic and procedure coding.
  • Assist with office procedures, injections, and other clinical tasks as directed by the provider.
  • Triage incoming patient phone calls; review messages with physicians and respond promptly and courteously as instructed.
  • Communicate test results, laboratory findings, and other provider instructions to patients, answer questions as appropriate.
  • Schedule referrals and follow-up appointments; submit prescriptions per provider instructions.
  • Coordinate with insurance companies and pharmacies as needed, including processing prior authorizations.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and compliant work environment by adhering to established standards, procedures, and legal regulations.
  • Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and patient-ready at all times. Maintain inventory of medical supplies and notify appropriate personnel when replenishment is needed.
  • Ensure proper operation of medical equipment by following operating instructions, troubleshooting issues, and performing routine preventive maintenance.
  • Adhere to clinic policies, professional standards, and all federal, state, and local regulations to support and protect the medical practice.
  • Work collaboratively with the physician to meet departmental goals on a quarterly basis.
  • Maintain current CPR certification.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
