UnityPoint Clinic CMA - Certified Medical Assistant Family Medicine Clinic - Merle Hay Des Moines, IA Monday-Friday 8AM-4:30PM with one half day 8AM-12PM TBD 36 hours/week Full-time + benefits $5,000 sign on bonus offered Why UnityPoint Health? The Medical Assistant will work closely with providers and care teams to deliver high-quality clinical support, ensure positive patient experiences, and maintain efficient clinic operations. This role requires strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
  • Active MA certification/registration from one of the accepted bodies listed above
  • Current BLS/CPR certification
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Family Medicine or Primary Care is a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Greet and room patients; obtain and document vital signs and medical history
  • Prepare patients for exams and assist providers with procedures
  • Perform point-of-care testing, EKGs, injections, and specimen collection
  • Manage phone calls, patient messages, and prior authorizations as needed
  • Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and equipment to clinic standards
  • Accurately document in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Support care coordination, patient education, and follow-up instructions
  • Adhere to clinic policies, infection control, and safety protocols
