About The Position

We are seeking qualified, like-minded Certified Medical Assistants to join our team! This role will be processing Prior Authorizations for the office, and will require experience with Prior Authorizations Summary/Objective: Collaborates with the provider to determine the needs of the patient and assists the provider with providing quality medical care to the patients.

Requirements

High School graduate or equivalent.
Must be a Certified Medical Assistant from a nationally accredited institution.
One year of relative medical assistant experience in the clinical setting is required if completion of a Medical Assistant program qualification is not met.
Individual must be BLS trained and certified at all times.
Must be computer literate.
Basic Life Support certification is required.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to multi-task and work as a team player.
Excellent computer skills.
Ability to follow clinical pathways and protocols.
Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to handle higher-stress phone calls.

Perform all duties in compliance with Galen Medical policies, HIPAA, and OSHA standards.

Nice To Haves

1-3 years’ clinical medical assistant experience is preferred.
Electronic Medical Record experience preferred.
Previous Clinical and Phlebotomy experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit.
Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary.
Collects data accurately and ensures that all information is entered into the patient’s medical record in EHR.
Prepares and stocks examination and treatment rooms.
Clean and sterilizes instruments.
Assists provider with minor office procedures.
Schedules Outpatient testing, Procedures or Surgeries.
Manages Referral process Hospital Admissions Testing and Procedures Pre-certification
Triage patient phone calls per site’s protocol.
Process Prescription Refill requests per Physician’s protocol.
Performs Ancillary testing: EKG, Spirometry, Cryotherapy, etc.
Laboratory testing may include Rapid Tests, Urinalysis, Bilirubin, Auto CBC, and Phlebotomy.
Reviews lab and test results.
Provide follow up to patient per provider’s instructions.
Provide health education to the patient as needed.
Performs all duties in compliance with Galen’s clinical policies and OSHA standards.
Maintains clean and neat work area.
Active participation in process improvement efforts.
May be required to assist other team members based on office demands.
Recognize and demonstrate cost-effective measures in utilization of supplies and equipment.

Maintain confidentiality of all patient, medical, financial, and legal information.
Report to work on time and as scheduled.
