JOB LOCATION Duke Neurosurgery of Raleigh - 3480 Wake Forest Rd, Raleigh, NC JOB SUMMARY Perform routine administrative and patient care supportive duties in a Health System medical practice to assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients and ensure the office runs smoothly.

Requirements

• Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) strongly preferred.
• High school or GED graduation required.
• Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required.
• BLS required

Responsibilities

• Assist Medical and Nursing staff in a variety of tasks including: rooming patients, taking medical histories and recording vital signs.
• Perform staple removals for nurse visits.
• Obtain, fax and scan medical records.
• Assist with prior authorization needs for prescriptions.
• Perform other clinical functions as delegated and supervised by the physician
• Load imaging to PowerShare from discs provided by patients.
• Float in clinic to cover patient and provider needs as delegated by nurse manager, health center administrator, charge nurse, or nurse team lead.
• Clean and stock rooms per infection prevention standards.
