About The Position

The Medical Assistant – Certified – Urgent Care Center supports urgent care providers by delivering high-quality, patient-centered clinical and administrative support. This role performs routine clinical tasks such as rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, collecting specimens, and preparing patients for examination or procedures. The Medical Assistant also performs front-office functions as needed, including check-in, registration, and documentation. This role supports timely, efficient patient care in a fast-paced, walk-in clinical setting.

Requirements

  • 0-1 years of experience in an urgent care, emergency, or ambulatory care setting preferred
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)-AAMA required or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)-American Medical Technologists required
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support required
  • Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced urgent care environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in EMR systems and basic clinical documentation.
  • Knowledge of standard clinical procedures and medical terminology.
  • Ability to multitask and respond calmly and effectively to urgent situations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares exam rooms and assists with patient flow by rooming patients and collecting vital signs, medical histories, and reason for visit.
  • Prepares patients for examinations, procedures, or diagnostic testing and assists providers during treatment as needed.
  • Collects and processes specimens, performs point-of-care testing, and documents results in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Administers medications and injections as directed by the provider and in accordance with scope of certification.
  • Provides patients with instructions and educational materials as directed by the provider.
  • Maintains clean, stocked exam rooms and ensures equipment is sanitized and ready for use.
  • Assists with front-office operations, including check-in, insurance verification, and appointment documentation when necessary.
  • Monitors and supports patient flow to reduce wait times and ensure timely care delivery.
  • Responds to patient inquiries and communicates effectively with the care team to coordinate services.
  • Complies with infection control protocols, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
