About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant at Trinity Health plays a crucial role in supporting physicians and ensuring a smooth patient experience in the Workplace Health department. This position involves preparing patients for their office visits, taking vital signs, assisting with medical procedures, and maintaining clinical areas in compliance with regulatory standards. The Medical Assistant is responsible for various administrative tasks, including scheduling appointments and managing patient records, while also ensuring patient confidentiality and safety.

Requirements

  • CMA, RMA, CCMA, or NCMA certification through an NCCA accredited program, or LPN/RN licensure in Michigan.
  • 2 years of previous clinical experience or equivalent education and experience preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Formal education in medical terminology and anatomy & physiology.
  • Experience in Occupational Medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for office visits by obtaining medical records and necessary reports.
  • Take and document patient vital signs and chief complaints.
  • Assist patients with gowning and prepare them for examinations.
  • Assist physicians with examinations and procedures, including processing specimens.
  • Perform in-office testing as directed by the physician, such as EKGs and injections.
  • Maintain exam rooms, ensuring they are clean and well-stocked with supplies.
  • Assist with patient forms and prescription refill calls as requested by physicians.
  • Schedule patient appointments and arrange for hospital admissions as needed.
  • Document patient interactions and maintain accurate medical records.
  • Participate in continuing education and maintain clinical knowledge.
