About The Position

As a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), you will work under the direction and supervision of the Medical Director, closely collaborating with healthcare providers to perform a variety of tasks within your scope of practice. Your responsibilities will include phlebotomy, EKG, specimen collection, taking vital signs and weights of participants, escorting participants to exam rooms, preparing them for examinations, and assisting physicians and nurses in providing care. You will also ensure that exam rooms are ready for use and stocked with necessary supplies, obtain information from participants as directed, and handle clerical duties related to diagnostic testing and bloodwork results. Participation in clinic meetings and overall planning is also part of your role, along with accepting other duties as assigned by the Medical Director.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Current Certified Medical Assistant License
  • BLS Certification
  • Minimum of 1 year working with a frail or elderly population
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, standards and techniques of a CMA
  • Skills in phlebotomy, EKG, BGM, and specimen collection
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions for a safe work environment
  • Knowledge of medical equipment use and maintenance
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with participants, co-workers, medical staff, and the public
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Customer service focus

Responsibilities

  • Perform phlebotomy, EKG, and specimen collection.
  • Take vital signs and weights of participants.
  • Escort participants to exam rooms and prepare them for examinations.
  • Assist physicians and nurses in the provision of examinations and treatment.
  • Ensure exam rooms are prepared and stocked with appropriate supplies.
  • Obtain information from participants as directed by the Clinic RN or physician.
  • Handle clerical duties and follow up on diagnostic testing and bloodwork results.
  • Participate in clinic meetings and planning activities.
  • Accept other duties as assigned by the Medical Director.
