About The Position

A non-exempt medical office position responsible for providing direct nursing care in a medical office setting under the direction of a physician, assists medical providers, and maintains a clean and safe environment in accordance with the policies and procedures of the practice.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting Program OR equivalent relevant work experience in lieu of education
  • Medical Assistant preferred (required in some departments, will allow 90 days to obtain it)
  • CPR/BLS certification is required
  • Tenet Healthcare/TPR complies with federal, state, and/or local laws regarding mandatory vaccination of its workforce. If you are offered this position and must be vaccinated under any applicable law, you will be required to show proof of full vaccination or obtain an approval of a religious or medical exemption prior to your start date. If you receive an exemption from the vaccination requirement, you will be required to submit to regular testing in accordance with the law.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to and supports the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of Tenet Physician Resources, including HIPAA and the Corporate Compliance Program.
  • Assists in the assessment of patient needs and health plan by taking vital signs, history, medication listing, assessing visual acuity, determining chief complaint, and assessing patients’ physical and mental status.
  • Completes all necessary documentation in the patient’s medical record in accordance with practice’s charting policy.
  • Prepares equipment and assists physicians with medical treatments, exams, and medical procedures.
  • Administers prescribed oral medications and injections (intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intradermal); performs venipunctures, CLIA-Waived, and non-CLIA Waived lab testing.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe environment for patients and visitors, including cleaning, sterilizing, and storing instruments.
  • Manages inventory by stocking rooms and taking inventory of medical and exam room supplies.
  • Complies with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood, body fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation, and other hazardous substances.
  • Coordinates patient referrals by arranging for specialized consultations/testing and obtaining necessary insurance pre-certifications.
  • Provides administrative support by answering phones, scheduling appointments, assisting with patient check-out, and supporting other practice functions as needed.
