About The Position

The Medical Assistant will: Obtain patient information and vital signs, assist the physician with patient follow-up calls, screen and follow-up with patient test results; maintain medical record information; coordinate patient care information with other health care providers; and obtain prior authorizations. Phone responsibilities may include answering the phone, creating telephone encounters, directing callers to the appropriate person/department, taking messages and scheduling appointments for the patients. The Medical Assistant may provide coverage for clerical positions as needed. This position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and service appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her area.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification or Registration or LPN required.
  • BLS for the Healthcare Provider 60 days after hire required.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of accredited Medical Assistant or LPN training program preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain patient information and vital signs.
  • Assist the physician with patient follow-up calls.
  • Screen and follow-up with patient test results.
  • Maintain medical record information.
  • Coordinate patient care information with other health care providers.
  • Obtain prior authorizations.
  • Answer the phone and create telephone encounters.
  • Direct callers to the appropriate person/department.
  • Take messages and schedule appointments for patients.
  • Provide coverage for clerical positions as needed.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to patient emergencies.
  • Apply site specific clinical screening tools.
  • Order appropriate lab testing for patient care.
  • Refill prescriptions per office protocol.
  • Coordinate referrals and testing.
  • Review the After Visit Summary with the patient and family.
  • Work in conjunction with the provider to create a patient focused care team.
  • Coordinate communication between the patient, provider and care team.
  • Deliver pertinent information to the provider.
  • Schedule appointments and notify providers of cancellations.
  • Perform all clinical functions as directed by the physician.
  • Document and update patient information in the medical record.
  • Reconcile and document patient medication logs at each visit.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation log for clinical equipment.
  • Manage overdues, recalls and actions within the EMR.
  • Support the quality improvement activities of the facility.

Benefits

  • $3,000 Sign On Bonus.
  • Pay Range: $20.00 - $23.21/hour.
  • Full Time, 80 hours every 2 weeks.
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
