About The Position

UPMC is currently hiring a Full-time Certified Medical Assistant for the Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Center at UPMC Divine Providence in Williamsport, PA. This position is Monday - Friday, dayshift, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, with no weekends or major holidays. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical Assistant certification from a national certifying organization (AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, or NHA), or successful completion of Medical Assistant program, or graduated from an LPN, RN, or EMT/Paramedics program (must have received & maintained certification if EMT).
  • Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic, and treatment room responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Attends routine meetings with staff to communicate procedural changes to improve service quality and patient safety.
  • Participates in implementation of department goals, processes and procedures. Assists with orientation of new staff members.
  • Relay instructions and education to patients per provider's instruction.
  • Document patient information into the medical record and adhere to all confidentiality requirements and policies.
  • Works directly with the manager to identify opportunities for improvement regarding clinical/nonclinical functions, infection control procedures.
  • Serves as an office super user of EPIC Care as assigned.
  • Must attend competency training and be responsible and demonstrate proficiency in all practice category specific tasks from training.
  • Send and receive patient medical records in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other state and federal regulations.
  • Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information. Complete forms/requisitions as needed. Schedule appointments. Verify insurance coverage and patient demographics.
  • Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment according to department protocol, room patients and prepare for examination.
