About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant works under the general supervision of clinic physicians and is supported by the clinic nursing supervisor, clinic manager, clinic mid-levels, and RN in a controlled outpatient care area. This position is represented by RCHEA and involves performing a variety of duties related to patient care and administrative support.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or GED preferred.
  • Clinic-medical office experience preferred.
  • Current CPR Certification.
  • National Medical Assistant certification required.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred.
  • Basic medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists practitioner and RN with basic administrative, clerical and technical supportive services and procedures under the supervision of a licensed physician or podiatrist.
  • Cross-trains for front office functions and fills in as needed.
  • Maintains and meets expectations on time for all competencies, licenses, certifications, and education requirements as outlined by local administration and regulatory agencies.
  • Maintains confidentiality of staff, patient, and administrative information.
  • Maintains lab and treatment rooms in an orderly manner.
  • Performs waived lab tests and lab internal quality controls.
  • Prepares patient for provider exam and collects all baseline information and records in the patient chart.
  • Takes patient vital signs, height and weight measurements, and records results in patient chart.
  • Willingly performs other duties and innovations as assigned.
