About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant will work in the OBGYN department at Ascension Saint Agnes, providing support to physicians and advanced practice providers. This role involves assisting with patient examinations and treatments, performing clinical duties, and managing clerical tasks. The position requires commuting between Columbia and Catonsville practices and involves a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week during daytime hours with varying shifts.

Requirements

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Medical Assistant certification obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of Medical Assistant Exam Required.
  • Certificate/Registration from the NHA, AAMA, NAHP, or other nationally accredited body required.
  • Bilingual Spanish speaker preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a provider.
  • Assist with treatment ordered by provider as supervised by provider or registered nurse.
  • Perform select clinical duties.
  • Interview patients, measure vital signs, and record information on patients' chart.
  • Prepare treatment room for examination of patient.
  • Perform basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing.
  • Perform basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking of supplies.
  • Assist with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
  • Document the provider's encounter with patients.
  • List all proper diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions, as indicated by the provider.
  • Transcribe patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications.
