About The Position

The position involves assisting in providing clinical care to office patients under the supervision of a provider. The role includes managing the provider's daily schedule and patient flow to ensure efficient care delivery. Responsibilities also encompass greeting and escorting patients to exam rooms, checking patient identifiers, and communicating the status of delegated tasks to the supervising provider. The Medical Assistant will obtain vital signs, input clinical information into electronic health records, and assist clinicians with procedures and tests specific to the department. Maintaining exam rooms, managing inventory of supplies, and administering routine injections under supervision are also key duties. The role requires participation in meetings and training to enhance patient care quality and staying informed about community resources and the healthcare system. Additionally, clerical support tasks such as scheduling appointments, registering patients, and managing medical records are part of the job. The Medical Assistant may also be required to float to other practices as needed and perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English
  • Medical Assistant - Certification from either the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA)
  • Completion of a post-secondary medical assisting program required for PCP Office (Preferred for Specialty Office)
  • Basic Life Support Certification for Health Care Providers
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, time management skills
  • Experience with current office technology, proficient with computer office applications (Electronic Medical/Health Records, MS Office, etc.)
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a clinical setting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assists in providing clinical care to office patients as delegated by supervising provider
  • Manages provider’s daily schedule and patient flow to expedite care and maximize clinical time
  • Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms, and checks two-patient identifiers
  • Communicates status of delegated task completion to supervising provider
  • Obtains relevant information and takes vital signs as indicated
  • Inputs pertinent clinical information into the electronic health record timely and with accuracy and collects home medication lists
  • Assists clinicians with clinical procedures and/or additional tests specific to the department
  • Prepares and maintains exam rooms for patient arrivals
  • Cleans and/or maintains inventory of supplies and equipment throughout the practice
  • Notifies supervisor to order clinical supplies, clinical equipment and pharmaceuticals as appropriate
  • Under the supervision of a provider, administers routine injections when delegated
  • Participates in practice and department meetings, trainings, etc. to promote continuous improvement of quality patient care
  • Takes initiative to learn, understand, and stay current with community resources and the greater healthcare system
  • Maintains patient rights and abides by all confidentiality obligations pursuant to CCHC and HIPAA
  • Provides clerical/office support as necessary
  • Ability to float to other MACC practices when required
  • Performs other work-related duties and activities as assigned or requested
