The Certified/Registered Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) works as part of the Patient Care Team and assists the providers and staff in the provision of team-based medical care. The CMA/RMA provides limited direct patient care services and performs specifically designated independent procedures. Under the indirect supervision of the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Registered Nurse (RN), or Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), the CMA/RMA plays a critical role in the delivery of quality, patient-centered medical care within the context of a federally (HRSA) qualified community health center (FQHC). At sites where there is no LPN or RN, clinical supervision is provided by the provider.
