About The Position

Newport Medical Associates is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to perform routine clinical and clerical tasks under the direction of a physician or other health practitioner. The CMA will contribute to overall patient experience, safety, and privacy while performing essential clinical duties such as taking vital signs, preparing patients for examination, and assisting with minor procedures. This role is crucial in ensuring a smooth operation within the medical practice and enhancing patient care.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• At least 6 months of relevant experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
• BLS Certification approved by AHA
• Medical Assistant Certification: NHA, NCCT, AMT, AAMA, NCMA, AMCA, AECA, or NAHP

Nice To Haves

• Phlebotomy and EKG experience
• Knowledge of electronic medical record (EMR) systems

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical tasks such as EKGs, hearing and vision screens, urinalysis, injections, vaccinations, and medication administration.
• Support practice needs with clerical tasks such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and collecting co-pays.
• Communicate with insurance providers and handle pre-authorizations and certifications as necessary.
• Prepare rooms, arrange instruments and equipment, and ensure a neat and sanitary environment.
• Room patients, verify patient information, confirm purpose of visit, obtain and record vitals, and update medical history.
• Communicate with patients and other providers per the instruction of the overseeing physician or health practitioner.
• Create and maintain health record information, file and organize as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
