About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: The Certified Medical Assistant will perform delegated clinical and administrative duties consistent with Medical Assistant program education, training, and experience. May work in both the clinical and front office functions of the practice providing clerical support, assisting in the delivery of health care and patient care support activities at the direction of the physician/provider. The incumbent performs the duties described below in accordance with the specific needs of the practice. If working in the Rural Health Clinic setting, will be required to have BLS through the American Heart Association. Department Information: This position will float to several Primary Care practices within the Central Market. This position requires travel between several clinics and towns within the area. Mileage and a differential in pay will be offered as compensation for the float position.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Certificate of completion or Diploma from a medical assistant program
  • Completion of Guild MedCerts medical assistant certification course AND certificate of completion from OSF applied learning program
  • Education equivalency: at least 6 months experience in Certified Medical Assistant role
  • proof of completion of on-the-job training/education program for certified medical assisting in another healthcare organization.
  • CMA-Certified Medical Assistant Current certification by one the following approved certifying agencies: American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), earning CMA credential. American Medical Technologists (AMT), earning RMA credential. National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), earning NCMA credential. National HealthCare Association (NHA), earning CCMA credential National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) . American Allied Health (AAH).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a medical office assistant or CNA or equivalent, previous experience with an electronic health record, phlebotomy.
  • If working in the Rural Health Clinic setting, will be required to have BLS through the American Heart Association.
