Clinics within the East region that applicants will need to be comfortable commuting to and working at based on business needs as scheduled: Fish Hawk, Riverview, Apollo Beach, Sun City Center, and Brandon. The position will remain open until all vacancies are successfully filled.

Responsibilities

  • Performs medical assistant procedures assists the providers with patients, including preparing patients and the examination rooms, taking initial medical history for the chart, taking vital signs, and explaining the process to the patients.
  • Undertake front office and clerical duties such as assisting patients with paperwork, verifying patient demographics and insurance benefits, and performing billing and bookkeeping functions.
  • Assists provider in all special procedures, including minor surgery, as required.
  • Outlines care instructions to patients as instructed by provider.
  • Assists with any procedures that have been taught through formal training or by provider.
  • Updates medical records in accordance with procedures and forms.
  • Follows HIPAA guidelines for patient confidentiality and follows principles of medical ethics for medical assistant.
  • Keeps rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, washes and dries instruments used, and prepares sterilization as required.
  • Clean wounds, draws labs, electrocardiograms, and applies dressings and splints as directed by provider.
  • Assists patients any time an urgent need is apparent or as directed by supervisory staff.
  • Assists in lab procedures under the supervision of provider or which training has been given.
  • Other duties may consist of notifying patients of lab results, giving vaccines, immunizations and medications prescribed by the doctor; lab work consisting of throat cultures, hematocrits, and urinalysis.
  • Responsible for proper handling and storage of all medications stored in the office.
  • Complete required trainings as assigned by the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to help assist with front office duties as needed/requested
  • Frequently cross train between front office and mid office responsibilities as needed to ensure a synced clinic
  • Regularly interacts with providers/team members/patients via face to face or electronically

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with EPIC, strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, strongly preferred
