The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) at DOC-AID Urgent Care plays a vital role in providing high-quality medical care to patients. The ideal candidate will have experience in patient care, particularly in urgent care settings, and will be responsible for assisting healthcare providers and managing patient flow effectively.

Requirements

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification.
• Experience in a clinical support role, preferably in an urgent care setting.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
• Ability to perform basic clinical tasks such as taking vital signs and administering injections.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality practices.

Responsibilities

• Check patients in and out at the front desk, verify insurance, and answer phone lines.
• Schedule appointments and manage patient flow to ensure timely care delivery.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations in all patient interactions.
• Conduct patient intake including taking vital signs and medical history and documenting patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
• Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring they are clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies.
• Perform basic clinical procedures such as administering injections, drawing blood, and assisting with minor surgical procedures under the supervision of a healthcare provider.
• Provide patient education on treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care instructions.
• Support healthcare providers during examinations and procedures, ensuring a positive and efficient patient experience.
• Manage lab specimens and perform basic laboratory tests such as urinalysis, blood glucose tests, and rapid strep tests as needed.
• Collaborate with team members to enhance patient care and improve workflow efficiency.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including administrative tasks, inventory management, or assisting with quality assurance activities.
