About The Position
Position Purpose: The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) works closely under the direction of a licensed provider to deliver high-quality patient care. This role is essential for ensuring a smooth and efficient clinical environment, providing basic patient assessment and support, and assisting in administrative duties. The CMA also participates in community outreach initiatives to promote health and wellness. Ministry/Facility Information: Mercy Care Atlanta, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and comprised of 300 plus colleagues, is a healthcare organization that provides a range of health services to underserved and vulnerable populations in the Atlanta, Georgia area. Requirements
- High School diploma required; graduate of a medical technical school preferred.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) and CPR certification required.
- Six months to one-year experience in a health-related field.
- Proficiency in phlebotomy and basic lab procedures.
- Knowledge of OSHA, HIPAA, and CLIA guidelines.
- Foreign language skills may be required.
- Valid GA driver’s license and safe driving record.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic patient assessment procedures, including vital signs and infection control.
- Assist with patient care for adults, geriatric patients, and occasionally infants and adolescents.
- Conduct phlebotomy and basic laboratory procedures.
- Interpret for clients and staff as applicable.
- Monitor and order medical supplies under the guidance of the Nurse Practitioner or Clinic Manager.
- Assist with EKG procedures and other clinical tasks as directed by the medical provider.
- Participate in health fairs or community events on weekends (3-4 times a year).
