Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Active Medical Assisting certification from an accredited body required.
  • BLS Basic Life Support certification preferred upon hire, required prior to independent patient care.
  • One year of Medical Assisting experience preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaboratively work with patients, families, and teams within a high-volume environment.
  • Strong attention to details and ability to multitask without prior instruction.

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational/Technical Degree in Medical Assisting preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant post-secondary education program preferred.
  • Completion of externship or clinical lab training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the completion of the patient’s chief complaint and documentation of patient needs under the direction of the provider.
  • Identifies problems in patient condition through data collection and reports them to the provider.
  • Participates in planning and implementing care for patients within the scope of Medical Assisting practice.
  • Troubleshoots issues and escalates problems to provider, direct supervisor, or appropriate internal resource.
  • Demonstrates standards of care excellence in all interactions, for both internal and external customers.
  • Floats to various urgent care centers within the market as determined by leadership.
  • Maintains clinical and administrative skills to meet patient care and daily operational needs.
  • Collects patient specimens and runs point of care lab tests.
  • Maintains a safe and supportive environment by keeping the work area, exam rooms, and equipment clean and orderly.
  • Administers ordered medications and/or vaccines within the Medical Assisting scope and state guidelines.
  • Documents in EMR accurately and appropriately.
  • Manages My Chart requests and incoming patient calls.
  • Orders supplies, lab, and diagnostic tests, and performs other administrative duties as needed.
