Pursue your passion for caring with Duke Primary Care, which offers family, adolescent, and internal medicine services as well as urgent, general pediatric, and virtual care at nearly 50 clinic locations across central North Carolina. Triangle Family Practice is a fast-paced clinic providing comprehensive care for patients of all ages, from infancy to geriatrics. With 15 providers and plans to expand, the clinic sees 200-280 patients daily. Services include family and internal medicine, pediatrics, preventative care, chronic illness management, women's health, and diabetes education. A pharmacist is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays, enhancing the clinic's patient-centered approach to healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Collect medical histories, monitor vital signs, explain treatments to patients, and prepare them for exams and procedures.
  • Assist medical staff, gather and prepare lab samples, conduct basic lab tests, perform EKGs, remove sutures/staples, change dressings, educate patients and families about care, and document in records.
  • Dispose of contaminated supplies, process instruments, clean medical equipment, call in prescriptions, prepare and give medications as instructed by the doctor, and handle prescription refills.
  • Perform other clinical tasks as assigned by the doctor.
  • Greet patients, answer calls, schedule appointments, check out patients, and handle referral scheduling.
  • Coordinate hospital admissions, lab services, and update medical records.
  • Complete forms, manage billing tasks like receiving copays and collecting balances, handle correspondence, and order supplies.
  • Assist with clinic activities, such as Joint Commission or fall prevention efforts, and participate in clinic committees.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program is strongly preferred. High school or GED graduation is required.
  • For Level II, must have at least 1 year of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting.
  • For Level III, must have at least 3 years of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting.
  • Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required. BLS required.
