The Certified Medical Assistant is a key component of our team that works closely with the primary care physician to deliver excellent patient care to our community, ensuring services are provided within the Medical Assisting scope and state guidelines.   • Provides excellent customer service skills by greeting patients and the community in a respectful manner
  • Prepares & reviews patient charts for upcoming visits by verifying that all diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and other medical records are correct and up to date
  • Measures vital signs such as pulse rate, respiration, blood pressure, weight, and height
  • Performs departmental-related clerical duties such as checking inventory, stock supplies, track referrals, and answer phones as needed
  • Must possess the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly
  • Other duties as assigned
  • High School Degree or GED
  • Active Medical Assisting certification from one of the following: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
  • BLS Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)
  • One year of medical assistant healthcare experience (preferred, not required)
  • Two years of clerical experience in a physician’s office (preferred, not required)
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
