About The Position

Texas Oncology is looking for a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) to join their team in Pearland, Texas. This is a full-time Monday-Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm position with no weekends, call, or major holidays. The position can be a Level I, II, or Senior based on candidate experience. Pearland is a fast-growing community offering advanced cancer treatment in a welcoming environment. More victories.”® in their fight against cancer. Under direct supervision, the Medical Assistant assists physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment. This role promotes efficient patient flow and patient care, including exams and procedures. It also involves performing clinic support tasks such as miscellaneous clerical duties, answering phones, and maintaining physician schedules. The Medical Assistant is expected to support and adhere to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • 0-3 years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant (for Level I).
  • Current BLS certification required within 3 months of hire (for Level I).
  • Minimum three years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant (for Level II).
  • Minimum five years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant in a hospital or clinic setting (for Level Senior).
  • Current BLS certification required (for Level Senior).
  • Some state regulations may require specific certifications in order to work as a Medical Assistant.

Nice To Haves

  • Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred (for Level I).
  • Certified Medical Assistant preferred (for Level I).
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred (for Level II).
  • Certified Medical Assistant preferred (for Level II).

Responsibilities

  • Escorts patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment room as appropriate.
  • Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including but not limited to, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Obtains all necessary patient records as required by physician prior to treatment or procedures.
  • Prepares and stocks exam/treatment rooms and orders supplies as needed.
  • Assists physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
  • Administers subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by RN or physician.
  • Maintains all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
  • Answers patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
  • Phones in prescriptions and makes other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN.
  • Informs physician of patient reschedules and no shows.
  • Performs other administrative duties, i.e. typing, filing faxing, chart preparation, reception, etc, as requested by supervisor or physician.
