About The Position

Mercy Health seeks a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for The Springfield Heart House - Medical Office. This position is integral to delivering excellent patient care, ensuring services are provided within the Medical Assisting scope and state guidelines. The CMA will work closely with the primary care physician, reviewing and updating health records, measuring vital signs, and preparing treatment rooms for examinations. The LPN will deliver patient care under the direction of the Physician, preparing and assessing patients for provider visits, and collaborating with the healthcare team to maintain the patient's plan of care.

Requirements

  • High School Degree or GED.
  • Active Medical Assisting certification from an accredited organization (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NRCMA, NCMA).
  • BLS Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
  • One year of medical assistant healthcare experience (preferred, not required) or one year of clinical patient care experience for LPN.
  • Two years of clerical experience in a physician’s office (preferred, not required).

Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent customer service skills by greeting patients and the community in a respectful manner.
  • Prepares & reviews patient charts for upcoming visits by verifying that all diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and other medical records are correct and up to date.
  • Measures vital signs such as pulse rate, respiration, blood pressure, weight, and height.
  • Performs departmental-related clerical duties such as checking inventory, stock supplies, track referrals, and answer phones as needed.
  • Analyzes assessment data, evaluates patient's condition, and collaborates with the provider to develop and maintain the patient's plan of care.
  • Provides education to patients, families, and staff members, in conjunction with other healthcare entities, under the direction of the provider or manager.
  • Coordinates the care of the patient with other healthcare entities according to the patient's plan of care.
  • Administers medications in a safe manner, consistent with the organization's policies and procedures.
