About The Position

Mercy Health is a faith-based and patient-focused organization that aims to enhance the health and well-being of all people through exceptional patient care. The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will work closely with the primary care physician to deliver excellent patient care, ensuring services are provided within the Medical Assisting scope and state guidelines. The role involves reviewing and updating health records, measuring vital signs, and preparing treatment rooms for upcoming examinations.

Requirements

  • High School Degree or GED.
  • Active Medical Assisting certification from an accredited body (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NRCMA, NCMA, etc.) or an Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE) if unable to obtain MA certification.
  • BLS Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
  • One year of medical assistant healthcare experience (preferred, not required).
  • Two years of clerical experience in a physician’s office (preferred, not required).
  • Active state Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensure (if applying for LPN position).
  • One year of clinical patient care experience (preferred, not required).

Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent customer service skills by greeting patients and the community in a respectful manner.
  • Prepares & reviews patient charts for upcoming visits by verifying that all diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and other medical records are correct and up to date.
  • Measures vital signs such as pulse rate, respiration, blood pressure, weight, and height.
  • Performs departmental-related clerical duties such as checking inventory, stock supplies, track referrals, and answer phones as needed.
  • Must possess the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly.
  • Analyzes the assessment data, evaluates patient's condition, and collaborates with the provider to develop and maintain the patient's plan of care.
  • Provides education to patients, families, and staff members, in conjunction with other healthcare entities, under the direction of the provider or manager.
  • Coordinates the care of the patient with other healthcare entities according to the patient's plan of care.
  • Administers medications in a safe manner, consistent with the organization's policies and procedures as well as the state requirements.
