Are you living your life's work? Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health is hiring a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) at LGHP Trauma Services for a full-time position in the Lancaster area. HOURS: Full - Time, Monday - Friday.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general equivalent GED is required.
  • Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited institution AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT, RMA or NAHP.
  • CPR Certification required: American Heart Association AHA Basic Life Support, formerly Healthcare Provider AHA Heart Saver MA CPR BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • For Regional Positions only - Valid driver's license is required.
  • A health care provider in good standing with Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal and state health insurance programs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a clinical support role.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical support services to patients at a provider's office under the supervision and direction of a provider and/or licensed nurse.
  • Prepare patients for visits using appropriate rooming standards tool.
  • Administer injections as prescribed by the provider and in accordance with practice protocol.
  • Provide gross observations to the provider or licensed nurse for interpretation as necessary.
  • Prepare and administer medications as prescribed by the provider and in accordance with federal and state regulations.
  • Prepare and assist providers with various procedures, minor surgeries, and other exams as designated by the provider.
  • Perform Point of Care Testing, including but not limited to hearing, flu, urine, and strep tests.
  • Remove sutures and change dressings on wounds as necessary.
  • Provide clinical advice by phone and electronic correspondence in accordance with established triage protocols.
  • Authorize prescription refills as directed by the provider.
  • Assist in test tracking and monitoring overdue results.
  • Ensure exam rooms are adequately supplied and cleaned after each patient visit.
  • Maintain and clean medical instruments and equipment after each procedure.
  • Assist with proactive outreach for patients requiring preventive and chronic disease services.
  • Perform care coordination activities among specialists and transitions of care to obtain all necessary patient information.
  • Assist in the coordination of referrals, education, and community resources.
  • Actively participate in performance improvement initiatives to improve overall patient experience and quality of care.
  • Participate in daily huddles with the provider.
  • Serve as a patient experience advocate by being a positive influence at all times when interacting with patients, visitors, and colleagues.
  • Handle all patient information in a confidential manner according to Lancaster General Health privacy and confidentiality policies and procedures.
  • Travel regularly to various sites within the region to support operational needs.
  • Assist at new practices and sites by mentoring and leading other team members during the initial onboarding period.
  • Perform various front office responsibilities as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
