About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant provides direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and the plan of care under the direction of the physician. Certified Medical Assistants work all three shifts, weekends and holidays. Individual shift rotation and schedules will be established with your specific Nurse Manager/Practice Manager. Schedules, including requirements of shift rotations and hours of work may be adjusted as necessary to meet clinic requirements and/or as needed.

Requirements

• Current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association.
• One (1) year of medical assistant work experience within the last three (3) years if not a graduate of a medical assistant program.
• No work experience required if a graduate of a medical assistant program.
• Previous experience using a personal computer and various software applications, including Microsoft and email.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

• Two (2) to three (3) years of previous experience as a Certified Medical Assistant.
• Previous experience in an academic health care environment.
• Graduation from a Medical Assisting training program from an accredited program of study.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, age-specific care to patients based on medical orders and the plan of care.
• Function under the direction of a licensed independent practitioner, manager, and/or RN in providing patient care, emotional support, and problem solving.
• Handle, transport, access to, and/or contact with medications and related supplies.
• Demonstrate strong organizational, problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
