About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: The Certified Medical Assistant Care Guide is responsible for registering, collecting payments, rooming, assisting the provider with care and treatment, discharging, and following-up with patients. It is the role of the Care Guide to companion patients and their “secondary guests” through the entire experience to maximize clinical excellence, reduce treatment times, and maximize the patient experience; before, during, and after the patient visit. The Care Guide is responsible for assisting the provider with front office and back-office duties in the outpatient management of patients on a rotating basis. This role is responsible for a variety of clinical functions within a clinic setting requiring knowledge and integration of available standards, resources, and data; discretion; good judgment; diplomacy; decision making; and a customer service attitude. Acting as the patient advocate, the Care Guide has continuous contact with providers, patients, patient families/significant others, community agencies, and patient care staff and management. Floating to various facilities required based on business need.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED and completion of a medical assistant (MA) program, certification course with applied learning, or equivalent MA training/experience.
  • CMA-Certified Medical Assistant Current certification by one the following approved certifying agencies: American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), earning CMA credential. American Medical Technologists (AMT), earning RMA credential. National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), earning NCMA credential. National HealthCare Association (NHA), earning CCMA credential.
  • American Heart Association (BLS for Health Care Providers) to be completed within 2 weeks of hire date.
  • National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP). American Allied Health (AAH).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.
  • This position requires specific knowledge and training related to the performance of administrative skills, technical / clinical skills and medical procedures commonly performed in a medical practice setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a medical office assistant or CNA or equivalent, previous experience with an electronic health record and phlebotomy.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of Epic.
  • Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette.
  • Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow.
  • Ability to perform phlebotomy and administer injections.
