About The Position

As a Medical Assistant/Allergy Tech working in an Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) clinic, your responsibilities typically involve a combination of administrative and clinical tasks. Administrative Duties include scheduling patient appointments, surgeries, and follow-up visits, ensuring efficient use of time slots and coordination with other staff members. You will also handle patient registration, greeting patients, collecting demographic and insurance information, and accurately updating electronic medical records (EMRs). Verifying patient insurance coverage, obtaining authorizations for procedures or tests, and assisting patients with insurance-related inquiries are also part of the role. Other administrative tasks involve maintaining organized and up-to-date medical records, assisting with billing processes, monitoring and restocking medical and office supplies, and facilitating communication between patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers. Clinical Duties involve escorting patients to examination rooms, obtaining vital signs, and preparing patients for procedures or examinations. You will perform allergy skin testing, including prick tests and intradermal tests, and interpret results under the supervision of a physician. Administering allergy immunotherapy injections according to physician orders, educating patients about allergy triggers, avoidance strategies, medication usage, and the purpose of allergy testing and immunotherapy are also key. The role requires assisting physicians during ENT procedures, such as ear irrigation, nasal endoscopy, or throat examinations, by providing support and maintaining a sterile environment. Accurate documentation of patient assessments, procedures performed, and treatment plans in EMRs, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and clinic protocols, is essential. Finally, adherence to infection control protocols, maintaining cleanliness and sterilization of equipment, and promoting a safe environment for patients and staff are critical.
