Scenic Living Communities is a continuing care retirement community in Iowa Falls, Iowa. Scenic Living Communities offers several levels of living including independent living, assisted living, short-term rehab, and long-term care. Shifts: We have openings for full-time (30+ hours weekly) and part-time (up to 29 hours weekly) positions. The Certified Medication Aide is responsible to pass medication under the direct supervision of the Charge Nurse and to provide direct, hands-on care to residents to ensure residents attain or maintain the highest possible physical, mental and emotional well-being possible for each resident.

Requirements

  • The Certified Medication Aides must have completed an approved training program and passed competency examinations in clinical skills and written knowledge to obtain certification as both a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Certified Medication Aide (CMA).

Responsibilities

  • Follows and upholds Scenic Living Communities’ philosophy and goal to maintain, improve and/or enhance each resident’s quality of care and quality of life
  • Provides and completes resident care as assigned
  • Follows safety policies in performing nursing care, assuring resident safety
  • Follows and upholds policies and procedures
  • Provides care to Resident per Resident’s individualized plan of care
  • Assists with meals in the dining room
  • Answers call-lights per facility policy
  • Follows rules outlined in the employee handbook
  • Attends and participates in facility meetings and in-service training programs as assigned
  • Follows infection control guidelines
  • Reports changes in resident’s condition immediately to the Charge Nurse
  • Works effectively with minimal supervision and in a team setting
  • Observes residents’ rights including, but not limited to, privacy, dignity, etc.
  • Promotes positive public relations with residents, family members and guests
  • Under the direct supervision of the Charge Nurse, passes medication and provides treatments according to physician’s orders and in accordance with facility policy
  • Review communication log and corresponding notes on a daily basis
  • May be scheduled to work in a CNA capacity as needed to meet operational and staffing requirements
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by the Charge Nurse, Director of Nursing and/or the Executive Administrator
