Scenic Living Communities is a continuing care retirement community in Iowa Falls, Iowa. Scenic Living Communities offers several levels of living including independent living, assisted living, short-term rehab, and long-term care. The Certified Medication Aide is responsible to pass medication under the direct supervision of the Charge Nurse and to provide direct, hands-on care to residents to ensure residents attain or maintain the highest possible physical, mental and emotional well-being possible for each resident.

Requirements

The Certified Medication Aides must have completed an approved training program and passed competency examinations in clinical skills and written knowledge to obtain certification as both a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Certified Medication Aide (CMA).

Responsibilities

Follows and upholds Scenic Living Communities’ philosophy and goal to maintain, improve and/or enhance each resident’s quality of care and quality of life
Provides and completes resident care as assigned
Follows safety policies in performing nursing care, assuring resident safety
Follows and upholds policies and procedures
Provides care to Resident per Resident’s individualized plan of care
Assists with meals in the dining room
Answers call-lights per facility policy
Follows rules outlined in the employee handbook
Attends and participates in facility meetings and in-service training programs as assigned
Follows infection control guidelines
Reports changes in resident’s condition immediately to the Charge Nurse
Works effectively with minimal supervision and in a team setting
Observes residents’ rights including, but not limited to, privacy, dignity, etc.
Promotes positive public relations with residents, family members and guests
Under the direct supervision of the Charge Nurse, passes medication and provides treatments according to physician’s orders and in accordance with facility policy
Review communication log and corresponding notes on a daily basis
May be scheduled to work in a CNA capacity as needed to meet operational and staffing requirements
Performs all other duties as assigned by the Charge Nurse, Director of Nursing and/or the Executive Administrator
