The Certified Marine Technician is responsible for the repair and overhaul of boats, machinery and trailers. This role involves performing diagnostics and repair of all types of marine engines, transmissions, drives, generators, and air conditioning systems. Mechanical repair work includes removing and repairing engines, transoms, or outdrives, disassembling units to inspect parts for wear, and overhauling or replacing various components such as carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, pumps, electrical and fuel systems. The technician will also rebuild parts like engine cylinder blocks, rewire ignition systems, lights, and instrument panels, and install and repair accessories like radios and marine electronics. The position requires operating a hydraulic jack or hoist as needed, advising shop management and insurance adjusters on necessary repairs, and completing work within established timeframes. Ensuring all warranty work adheres to manufacturer's and MarineMax guidelines is crucial, as is safely operating MarineMax and customer vessels during diagnostic water testing. Maintaining tools and keeping all certifications current are also key aspects of the role.
