Job Summary Summary The Certified Mam.mography Technologist is responsible for performing high quality mammography and diagnostic procedures in an efficient and timely manner. This position is part of the 1199SEIU Bargaining Unit at Cooley Dickinson Hospital. This position reports to the Supervisor, Mammography and operates within established organizational and departmental policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree Radiology required or Other Certificate/Diploma Radiology required
  • Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No
  • Mammography [ARRT-M] - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required
  • Radiologic Technologist [State License] - Generic - HR Only required
  • Two (2) years of diagnostic radiology experience and knowledge of all diagnostic procedures and radiographic equipment 2-3 years required

Responsibilities

  • Must be able to effectively interact appropriately to an individual’s intellectual level and physical ability: adult.
  • Perform mammography procedures concisely and thoroughly.
  • Utilize all mammography equipment, performing quality control functions in absence of Mammography Supervisor.
  • Resolve identified problems.
  • Perform staff technologist functions and assignments, rotating through all functional areas.
  • Perform wire localization and stereotactic biopsy procedures and assist Radiologists as required.
  • Report malfunctions, hazards and other incidents as appropriate to supervisor.
  • Address patient’s questions and respond to patient’s needs.
  • Advise and communicate patient concerns to Radiologist reviewing images.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Utilize radiology information system according to departmental procedures.
  • Register patients, determining insurance and billing status.
  • Maintain records by event, make corrections when necessary.
  • Assist with student training as necessary.
  • Maintain established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, confidentiality, quality improvement program, compliance, safety, infection control, and environmental standards.
  • Maintain professional growth and development through attendance at seminars, workshops, conferences or in-services, professional affiliations, or journals to stay abreast of current trends in field of expertise.
  • Meet annual competency and retraining requirements.
  • Attend meetings as required.
