The NYPD strives to foster a safe and fair city by incorporating Neighborhood Policing into all facets of Department operations and solve the problems that create crime and disorder through an interdependent relationship between the people and its police, and by pioneering strategic innovation. The Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) supports the Department by acquiring, distributing, installing and maintaining Local Area Networks, personal computers, mainframe computers, software, and data communications networks. ITSD also plans and coordinates the implementation of advanced technology. The selected candidate will: -Leads a team who performs SQL Server database administration functions, including maintenance of multiple environments (development, testing and production), patching, troubleshooting, SSIS & SSRS deployments and security management. -Leads a team who performs database administration duties, including installations, patching, backup and recovery management, schema management, startup and shutdown. -Supervises a team who designs and implement redundant systems, policies and procedures for database recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection, maximum availability and integrity of data assets by assigning and reviewing work of subordinates. -Monitor and analyze data platforms to ensure database is available, secure, healthy, efficient and recoverable as per expectations. -Build and manage HA & DR architectures like Clustering, Replication and Always on. -Implement and manage the physical databases of mission critical systems capacity to determine future storage needs. -Collaborate with application owners to develop a seamless process to migrate their schema and data to data platform. -Partner with development and quality assurance teams to deliver robust, quality on-time solutions. -Directs, provides guidance and assists subordinates in testing, developing and troubleshooting database applications.
