About The Position

The Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) is responsible for anticipating, recognizing, evaluating, and controlling workplace environmental factors that may affect employee health, safety, and well-being. This role ensures compliance with applicable occupational health regulations and supports the organization’s mission to provide a safe and healthy work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Occupational Health, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) credential in good standing
  • 3–7+ years of industrial hygiene or occupational health experience (depending on role level)
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, ACGIH TLVs, and industrial hygiene principles
  • Experience with exposure monitoring equipment and data analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Industrial Hygiene or related discipline
  • Experience in manufacturing, construction, energy, healthcare, or chemical environments
  • Familiarity with risk assessment software and exposure modeling tools
  • Professional certifications beyond CIH (e.g., CSP)

Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and control chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic hazards in the workplace
  • Conduct industrial hygiene monitoring, sampling, and exposure assessments (e.g., air, noise, heat, radiation)
  • Develop and implement exposure control strategies, including engineering controls, administrative controls, and PPE programs
  • Interpret sampling data and prepare technical reports with recommendations
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NIOSH, EPA, and other applicable regulations and standards
  • Support incident investigations, exposure complaints, and occupational illness cases
  • Provide technical guidance on ventilation systems, process design, and hazard mitigation
  • Develop and deliver training related to industrial hygiene, hazard communication, and exposure prevention
  • Collaborate with EHS, operations, engineering, and management teams
  • Maintain records, monitoring data, and regulatory documentation
  • Stay current on industrial hygiene best practices, regulations, and emerging risks
