The Certified Industrial electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and building out electrical systems and equipment within manufacturing plants, factories, and other industrial settings. Their primary duties include but are not limited to: In depth experience working with various voltage levels, including low, medium, and high-voltage systems commonly found in industrial environments. Primarily medium to high voltage. Proficiency in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting switchgear—such as circuit breakers, disconnect switches, and control panels—is essential for ensuring reliable power distribution and system protection. Installation: Setting up electrical wiring, trapeze, hangers, wire pulls fixtures, control systems, and industrial machinery according to blueprints, diagrams, and technical manuals. Maintenance: Conducting routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and infrastructure to ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment. Repair: Diagnosing electrical faults, replacing defective components, and restoring equipment to operational status. Safety Compliance: Ensuring all work complies with national, state, and local electrical codes and safety regulations. Documentation: Keeping accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and installations performed. Collaboration: Working with engineers, production teams, and other trades to support facility operations and resolve technical issues. Physical ability to work in industrial environments, including standing, climbing, pulling, and lifting. Ability to measure open capacity on the grid or switchgear. Ability to train and develop Jr. associates into electrical technicians. Familiarity with testing procedures and safety protocols for handling high-voltage equipment further enhances their expertise and contributes to safe facility operations. Ability to work with the local municipality on permits and appropriate paperwork.
