About The Position

McFarland Clinic is currently accepting applications for Certified Histology Technician for its Ames office. Candidates should be service-oriented, a team player, and be able to provide extraordinary care, every day to our patients. Responsibilities include: Receive, accession, and process surgical, autopsy and cytology specimens. Handles clerical duties, file blocks and slides, perform daily maintenance of pathology equipment and assist with slide preparation. Utilizes the Laboratory Information System to accession and procure needed report information. Assist in maintaining all equipment and QC according to established policies. Assist, as needed, with processing, embedding, cutting and staining of pathology slides for microscopic examination and diagnosis by our pathologists'. Perform daily specimen pick up runs from operating rooms and other laboratory areas and record specimen transfers. Set up grossing/frozen areas daily, as well as clean up each afternoon. Requirements

  • Bachelor or Associates degree in Biology, Chemistry, or Medical Science.
  • HT or HTL (ASCP) required
  • At least 1 year FT experience working in a histology laboratory performing routine histologic duties.
  • Pre-employment drug screen and criminal history background checks are a condition of hire.
