About The Position

The Certified Hemodialysis Technician position at Desert Cities Dialysis involves working under the supervision of Registered Nurses to provide essential care to dialysis patients. The technician is responsible for carrying out dialysis treatment orders, monitoring patient conditions, and ensuring the safe operation of dialysis equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of hemodialysis procedures and patient care, as well as adherence to safety and infection control protocols.

Requirements

• Certified as a Dialysis Technician by the state of California.
• Current CPR certification.
• Understanding of hemodialysis theory, methods, and patient care.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of experience in hemodialysis.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a healthcare-related field.
• BONENT CHT certification.
• Vaccine card.

Responsibilities

• Assess the patient’s appearance, weight, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and general well-being.
• Report any abnormal findings to the Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician.
• Draw blood work as ordered from arterial or venous blood lines.
• Initiate dialysis treatment following standing orders for each patient.
• Calculate ultra filtration pressure for desired patient fluid loss based on ordered dry weight.
• Monitor patient's condition during treatment and record vital signs and subjective findings.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for the patient.
• Administer normal saline if the patient's blood pressure drops or if they become symptomatic.
• Keep dialysis equipment under constant observation and report malfunctions to machine technicians.
• Terminate patient treatments as per procedure and ensure proper clotting of access.
