About The Position

The Certified General Electrician performs advanced installation, service, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electrical systems across residential, apartment turnover, light commercial, and public works projects. This role requires an active California General Electrician Certification, strong diagnostic ability, and consistent delivery of clean, code‑compliant work in occupied and unoccupied units. Certified General Electricians work independently, support project execution, coordinate with other trades, and provide mentorship to Apprentices and Electrician Trainees as part of our team’s development pathway.

Requirements

  • Active California General Electrician Certification (required)
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion of a formal electrical apprenticeship or equivalent training
  • Strong installation, troubleshooting, and documentation skills
  • Ability to mentor apprentices and coordinate assigned tasks
  • Valid California driver’s license with clean driving record

Responsibilities

  • Executes panel schedule updates, labeling, and documentation as part of apartment turn processes
  • Performs electrical work in occupied apartment units with attention to cleanliness, professionalism, and resident interaction
  • Installs and commissions Title 24 lighting controls, vacancy sensors, and smart devices
  • Installs wiring, devices, conduit, panels, breakers, and electrical equipment
  • Performs service upgrades, remodel wiring, and basic load calculations
  • Troubleshoots electrical issues including shorts, overloads, and system failures
  • Ensures compliance with NEC, California Electrical Code, and NFPA 70E
  • Reads and interprets drawings, one-lines, and technical specifications
  • Maintains safe working conditions, site cleanliness, and proper use of tools and equipment
  • Participates in required training and field instruction
  • Coordinates work with Project Managers, inspectors, and other trades
  • Mentors Apprentice Electricians and provides on-the-job instruction
  • Maintains accurate circuit labeling, mapping, and documentation
  • Installs lighting systems, controls, smart devices, and specialty electrical components
  • Performs meter testing, continuity checks, and system verification
  • Assists with planning, material takeoffs, and sequencing of work
  • Provides basic customer education on system operation
  • Completes punch lists, warranty work, and corrective repairs
